A sad testament on the state of things these days:

I find the threat of a hurricane barreling straight towards me a welcome distraction from our threat in the White House.

Usually every morning I instinctively check the Madman’s Twitter feed to wonder what craziness he has brought upon us today.

Having to check the NHC’s storm projections every morning is actually a welcome change. Reminds me of the things I had to worry about before this horror made his way into the White House.

It was retroactively upgraded to full Cat 5 (initially it was 2 mph under the limit), and looked like it was going to destroy South Florida (size wise it was a MONSTER) and at the very last minute (and I mean the last minute) it veered north and missed.

the pics of it are terrifying, that eye is massive

I was in college at the time. Everyone had evacuated into the cafeteria. We were all but certain it was going to be a direct hit until it made that last turn. Got some gusts but that was about it.

for a disaster movie.

I was 3 years old and living in London, so no real-time memories for me, but if I had been a teen or adult in Miami in September 1999, I would have been positively out of my mind.

for people who need distraction because it always puts things in perspective for me. The world around us is a far more profound and far better reality than the transient cruel and destructive actions by today's Republicans controlling governments. Even with a hurricane barreling straight for some of us.

Best wishes for your and your neighbors' properties.

It has been very distracting.

And really sad that I fear a Cat 4 hurricane strike much less than I do the Madman.

Instead of directly heading towards News Apps, DU and anything else directly related to the madman illegally occupying 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, I've been intently watching Weather Channel, NOAA and anything else. Relatives who live in Virginia/North Carolina BEGGING me to leave West Central Florida (Tampa Bay) and I've told them, I'm MUCH better off, under a roof, as to be stuck in a car, run out of gas on the side of the Interstate. You just can't reason with hysterical people at times. Predictions are Cat 1 when Dorian reaches my area. Not going to worry, just plan ahead. There's only so much you can do in these situations. Hell, I used to deliver mail door to door in HURRICANES! I'm not going to sit and worry about something I have no control over. I'll leave that to those folks who have nothing better to do.
