NRA slams Walmart's 'shameful' change to gun policies

The National Rifle Association (NRA) in a Tuesday statement slammed Walmart's changes to its gun policies as "shameful" after a mass shooting last month in one of its stores.

"It is shameful to see Walmart succumb to the pressure of the anti-gun elites. Lines at Walmart will soon be replaced by lines at other retailers who are more supportive of America's fundamental freedoms," the statement said.

"The truth is Walmart's actions today will not make us any safer. Rather than place the blame on the criminal, Walmart has chosen to victimize law-abiding Americans," the NRA added. "Our leaders must be willing to approach the problems of crime, violence and mental health with sincerity and honesty."

The statement follows a decision by Walmart to end handgun sales, discontinue sales on certain types types of ammunition and ask customers to not openly carrying firearms.

Well here's your opportunity if what you say is right. Think of all the money you can make selling ammo.

Also when is the NRA going to allow open carry at its meetings and conventions if it's such a good idea?

The wording that is used is tactical in itself and it is loaded, only with paltry newspeak excretions.

I assume that they know that their carefully worded verbiage will appeal to their loyal adherents, but do they realize that this stuff is really see-through PR that utilizes specific terms and phrases that people who are not advocates for their idea of protecting the freedom to be paranoid and violently anti-social can easily parse?

Lots of buzz words and very little substance. Go NRA, dig your hole and let's see if you can make the slope more slippery with that gooey drool you dribble.

Oh, and who the fuck are you guys anyway to determine that or make those comments? Is it the size or your organization, or what? Presumptuous much?

Add them to the growing list of irrelevant voices who make noises, but have nothing to do with preventing more deaths.

will be gone. The NRA is part of the gun violence problem that has no positive input in finding solutions. I can't imagine the NRA surviving the prosecution that's coming, just from what is publicly known right now. It'd be nice if we could get a constitutionally-based DOJ/Department Of Justice to direct that prosecution but we can impeach tRump, Barr and McConnel all at the same time. That would be sweet!

Those NRA trolls have no where near the number of supporters they think they have.

When I have been there, by far the least busy area is where guns and hunting stuff is located, and I live in a red county. Electronics seems real busy, followed by grocery, beauty supplies and housewares. Neither of the Walmarts would appear to suffer due to the changes Walmart is making.
