and couldn't believe anyone could say something so offensive. But then, it's on Fox. And the hosts didn't act appalled.

It's like they've gotten Trump's lack of empathy. So they just say things they think will mean something, but because they can't feel for others, it's never true and often careless and cruel.
Like Trump calling the Bahamians escaping from the hurricane horrible people and drug dealers. He doesn't see people. These human-shaped objects to him are just markers to use for his own purposes.
