Rep. Ted Deutch @RepTedDeutch 5h@Jim_Jordan claims @HouseJudiciary is changing the rules midway on impeachment.
Wrong.
It was his own party that changed the rules in 2015.
10/28/2018 ___Democrats eager to investigate the Trump administration if they seize the House would have the GOP to thank for one of their most potent tools a sweeping subpoena authority that Democratic lawmakers denounced as an abusive power grab three years ago.
House Republicans changed the rules in 2015 to allow many of their committee chairmen to issue subpoenas without consulting the minority party, overriding Democrats objections that likened the tactic to something out of the McCarthy era.
Now the weapon that the GOP wielded dozens of times against President Barack Obamas agencies could allow Democrats to bombard President Donald Trumps most controversial appointees with demands for information. And many Democrats are itching to use it.
The Republicans have set the standard and, by God, were going to emulate that standard, Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.) told POLITICO.

Rep. Ted Deutch @RepTedDeutch
Todays resolution merely establishes additional procedures to facilitate our ongoing impeachment investigation.

gratuitous
(82,849 posts)1. And keep saying that
We know that Republicans are going to whine to anyone who will listen (sadly, including some reporters who should know better) about how mean the mean old Democrats are being, and they're really mean! Democrats need to keep reminding folks that the "unfair" rules they're operating under were instituted by the Republicans. If Republicans don't like it, it's their own fault, and they didn't repeal "turnabout is fair play" when they had the chance.
