Wow. Some Governors (and a whole country) are pretty quick on the trigger, eh?
Here is Camel's newest cigarette box:
Careful, kids... there may be an atomizer in there!

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned that no consistent e-cigarette products have been linked to the disorder and that, while some victims used marijuana-based products, some reported using marijuana and nicotine products, and a smaller group reported using only nicotine products.
I can almost guarantee that the people who claim to have used only nicotine products are lying about it.

(13,903 posts)the issue is that the right doesn't really give a sh*t about kids vaping or getting shot or having unprotected sex.
It is about moralizing and propaganda. This is a political scam.

(33,643 posts)that is the source of the sickness!
The chemical was found in most of the samples that were collected by the FDA from patients that fell ill from THC vaping all over the country. The FDA shared the news with the New York health department via a telephone briefing according to The Washington Post.

I will bet every one of you ANY amount of money ... that when all is said and done, this problem will have NOTHING to do with the vaping of flavored nicotine e-juice bought from a reputable source.
LITERALLY 10's of MILLIONS OF PEOPLE VAPE FLAVORED E-LIQUID WORLDWIDE, DAILY, going back to 2007.
And JUST NOW, all of a sudden, a handful (relatively) of people are getting sick? And nearly every single one of them has admitted to vaping THC products? And it's only in the USA?
Use your heads, y'all.
Some poison/contaminant was introduced into the supply in the USA recently. It's not an inherent problem with vaping flavored e-liquids, or PEOPLE WOULD BE SICK ALL OVER THE WORLD, and it wouldn't be happening SUDDENLY, ALL AT ONCE, it'd have been happening all along.
A new contaminant is the only thing that makes sense!
"Vitamin E acetate (...) was as a result of unscrupulous companies making cutting agents for hash oil that is used in vaping cartridges."
^^^ This right here ... WILL TURN OUT TO BE ... the cause. Mark my words.

(14,120 posts)How fast everyone is to outlaw e- cigarettes after 7-8 deaths, but when people are killed in a mass shooting many are like "let's cool down before we go crazy about guns"
And nothing gets done.

(20,210 posts)Few people would enjoy smoking natural, additive free, tobacco. So tobacco companies add hundreds of chemicals, flavors and spices to make it more palatable, especially to younger smokers. They add bronchodialators so that the smoke goes deeper into your lungs. They add chemicals that increase the absorption of nicotine so that smoking has a bigger kick and is more addictive.

(11,287 posts)Vaping was suppose to help people quit smoking toxic cigarettes. Putting in candy flavor seems like a Putin move.

(10,039 posts)How does that make any sense? Nice touch equating us the Putin too.

(33,643 posts)Adults like fruit and candy and dessert flavors just like kids ... and the vaping industry, especially the e-juice industry, is ABSOLUTELY NOT 'big tobacco' ... when it started, it was all mom and pop type outfits (some have gotten much bigger now of course). These candy flavors have existed since vaping has existed.
Vaping is not a 'big tobacco thing'. Big Tobacco is losing money on it, big time. That's why they're now, finally getting fully aboard buying portions of companies like Juul and Blu and such.
Products which are way different from traditional vaping, using mods and e-liquids, I might add. And FAR FAR more expensive.
Banning flavored e-liquids will drive the mom and pops out of business ... and allow Big Tobacco-backed Juul and Blu and their ilk ... to corner the market.
mr_lebowski
(33,643 posts)Mom and pop-type outfits.
There's been juices flavored like candies, fruits, desserts, sodas ... you name it ... all along, since 2008 when vaping got started.
Vape shops don't allow in anyone under 18. They card everyone who looks remotely young.
Why should the rest of us ADULTS, consuming a LEGAL PRODUCT, have to suffer because some parents don't take responsibility for their snot-nosed brats who break the law?
I love Jolly Ranchers Candy, still eat it on the regular ... I also like Jolly Rancher flavored vape juice. Why can't I have it? Why should I HAVE to have SHITTY tasting vape juice?
And by the way, why are alcohol companies allowed to fill the stores with sugary, kid-friendly alcoholic beverages, and nobody says shit?
And lastly, to your 'point' about helping people quit smoking ... let me ask you something. Let's say I'm an alcoholic (I am, actually lol) ... and let say O'Douls had no alcohol in it, but tasted like beer.
If you're my AA sponsor, you're trying to help me break my case of beer a day habit ... are you going recommend to me that it'd be helpful if that I replace my Case of Beer with a Case of O'Douls?
If so, you'd be going directly against what any professional would recommend. You don't want to replace what you're trying to quit with something that's as CLOSE AS POSSIBLE ... you want to switch to something that's LESS like you're trying to quit.
Forcing people trying to quit smoking into vaping 'tobacco flavor' juice is EXACTLY as illogical as telling an alcoholic to switch to near-beer. It's not the recommended methodology.
