Meanwhile, our For the People Act, which includes some public funding of elections, is passed in the house and only waits for us to get control of the senate to become law. It's needed because poorer districts don't donate enough to free pols from having to seek bigger donors. But add public funding to the new realities of internet-enabled small donor funding, and special interest funding of candidates takes yet another big hit. It's actually already happening. Just look at how many candidates were able to refuse big donations in the midterms and this location compared to in the past.

(5,071 posts)effective and potentially more equitable to humans, to unequivocally state that corporations/business entities are not "people" within the meaning of the Constitution? Just a thought...
