You cannot tell me that there is nothing, immediately, that the democratic party can do without waiting forever on the courts that are now filled with rethug sycophants. Each day, millions of my fellow democrats awake feeling like Nancy and the party are going to make a move. At the end of the day we are left wondering if this corrupt administration will ever end!
Some days I have to turn off all news for a reset. The talking heads talk hope and then snatch it away, riding the tide of what will give them the greatest ratings. Dr. Martin Luther King speaks of the ultimate measure of a man, not when he is comfortable but when he is challenged. We have even resorted to being divided. I know we can meet the challenge.
Take drump's ass to prosecution anyway. This crap about a sitting president cannot be prosecuted is a crock. Put a law on the floor, even if it is rejected, that says he can go to jail. Please, Democratic legislators, give us hope again or you will never get another blue wave. Use AOC more if you are reluctant to speak out. She is fierce and will call them out without a filter. For God's sake, do something.

(7,017 posts)We're scared, worried, disgusted, angry at what our government has become. We have no law enforcement for assholes like trump, McConnell, Barr and any other rich, powerful MF'ers who break the law. We don't think waiting until 2020 is the appropriate cause of action. Apparently waiting another 13 months is no problem at all. Me I can't wait sorry.

(6,377 posts)Im fine with impeachment, but Im also realistic about the results. If he does get impeached, itll fail in the Senate, and hell still be running for president in 2020.
You say you arent willing to wait 13 months. You dont have any other choice.

(11,001 posts)might be better than hating feelings expressed in the post. There are some good days and there are some that kind of drag on your emotions. However, blue no matter who!!!
I object to negativity and expressions of gloom and doom and I am accused of not being positive?

Bettie
(16,110 posts)his history shows that he IS untouchable.
He has never, ever had any real consequence for any action he's taken.
So far, he has done whatever comes into his addled brain with zero consequences beyond a few "bazinga" moments and a couple of somewhat stern letters directed toward him. He has brought corruption to the DOJ to new and startling heights, he has little children taken from their parents and locked in cages and so fucking much more it makes my head hurt to think about it all.
Oh, and we've lost the judiciary for at least 20 years. He just sent a batch of new appointments to Moscow Mitch, who will likely have them placed by the end of the month. Yet another reward for his bad behavior. 1 in 6 federal judges are his, chosen specifically for their lack of ethics and devotion to right wing ideology by the Heritage Foundation.
Oh, and our side is utterly helpless to do anything.
So, tell me how this looks like he and his people aren't winning.
Heck, our side is reluctant to even use the power allocated by the constitution.

I've asked questions and have not gotten answers.
We can and should "support Democrats" - but we should be able to ask and expect them to do something!

I don't see the blue wave fading in my neck of the woods. Take a look online at all the climate protests today. Those are not young Republicans.

(36,060 posts)The old blue wave isn't fading, it's just a swell, gathering momentum. You can count on the tide turning.
It's hard to see, but Democrats are not failing, but working through the law.
Power is in the unseen undercurrent, while the surface looks as if we're just crashing. Until the wall cracks, collapses and goes under.

(945 posts)...I think "Blue Wave" was the best slogan for DEMS since "Hope and Change". Both were unifying cries that appealed to centrists and left leaning DEMS.
In classic DEM style, though, we've shelved the Blue Wave slogan for some reason. We were too successful with it, perhaps?

(108,980 posts)There is no law that says he can't be prosecuted -- that's only a Justice Dept policy.
We do have the State of New York actively trying to prosecute him. Trump controls the Federal justice department, so he can't be prosecuted through that.
Nadler is working through the courts to try to get evidence to use in impeachment hearings and that seems to be where most of the bottleneck is right now.
