Election 2019: Marche Johnson for Montgomery (AL) City Council

As a product of North Montgomery neighborhoods and the Montgomery Public School system, City Council candidate I am no stranger to the streets of North Montgomery. Born and raised in the neighborhoods Trenholm Court and Sheridan Heights, I have first- hand experience with the day to day concerns that North Montgomery residents face. I not only acknowledges the concerns of the elderly and working class but also holds a special place in her ministry for the community youth. My strong desire to give back and tenacity for change, has led me to become a candidate for District 3 City Council in the upcoming election period.

Inspired by the strong women that came before her, I am no stranger to rolling up my sleeves and getting the job done. I had to work tirelessly to overcome obstacles that I faced in my life. From a teenager, whose mother passed away at a young age to becoming a young mother myself, I have never backed down at the face of adversity, instead I rose to the occasion and exceeded the standard.

After attending Auburn University Montgomery with plans of becoming a lawyer, I decided to selflessly serve this great nation as a member of The United States Army. During my time in the service, I dedicated my life to honor and sacrifice both stateside as well as in the Maysan Province in Iraq and Kandahar, Afghanistan. My time in service has resulted in me being a recipient of many awards and accolades including but not limited to: earning a Bachelors Degree of Science in Psychology from Troy University, 3 Army Commendation Medals, 6 Army Achievement Medals, 2 Army Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, and Army Service Ribbon.

My days of serving the country have come to an end but her service to the District 3 community of Montgomery is just beginning. My wishes to serve the community from the forefront. I believe that the community’s voice should be heard and that District 3 deserves a champion to not only deliver those concerns to city hall but stand firmly to get things done. I believe in transparency to keep the community engaged, Integrity to hold responsible parties accountable and participatory leadership not a dictatorship.

My unwavering faith in Montgomery’s ability to change and prosper combined with my merit as a leader, makes me an ideal candidate for District 3 City Council. As I have done many times, Marche’ is On The Move and ready to lead by example!
