Richard Painter: Democrats Must Impeach Trump Now Or They Will Lose In 2020

The former White House ethics attorney said Trump has “committed multiple high crimes and misdemeanours.”

Former White House ethics attorney Richard Painter is urging House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and the Democrats to begin impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump.

“This is an impeachable offense,” he said on MSNBC on Monday, referring to allegations that Trump pressured Ukraine to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden, a potential political rival in 2020.

This can taint Joe Biden if the Democratic Leadership plays this wrong.

“If Speaker Pelosi doesn’t have the courage to impeach him, he’s going to keep on doing it,” Painter added.

Painter predicted that Trump will claim during next year’s campaign that the lack of impeachment was “proof” he didn’t do anything wrong. He also urged the House to quickly vote on articles of impeachment.

Pelosi made it clear in May "when we go through with our case [impeachment] it's got to be ironclad." It's not about a lack of courage, it's about having a rock-solid case that will stand up to a court fight all the way to SCOTUS because, duh, we don't want to lose!

Trump will be re-elected. They say the United States has passed the critical point on the number of self-destructive idiots.

What you just said. Every day that goes by with no action just makes it seem like we Dem's are "weak" or that we don't have anything "on" this orange clown to way too many people. I know I know but that's just the way it is.

I really don't see swing voters bothering to come out to vote for either Trump or his enablers

The people we elected to bring accountability have more pressing matters to focus on than saving our country from Trump's unlawfulness.

lecturing Democrats about what WE must do toward pressuring their fellow Republicans on what THEY need to do.

We Dems know what the problem is and what we need to do but are struggling mightily to figure out how to do it in the most effective and smartest possible way. Republicans won't even admit there's a problem and damned sure aren't trying to do anything about it.

So, Richard Painter, Rick Wilson, David Jolly and your pals, instead of hectoring the Democrats - we already have enough people in our faces about this - why not start jumping in the faces of your former and future Republican colleagues (because we know as soon as this crisis ends, you'll be right back over there with them trying to undermine us again).

That would be helpful.
