At U.N., Trump: 'No International Right To An Abortion'

At a meeting of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Monday, U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar spoke on behalf of the U.S. ... stating that abortion is not an international human right.

"We do not support references to ambiguous terms and expressions such as 'sexual and reproductive health and rights' in U.N. documents, because they can undermine the critical role of the family and promote practices like abortion in circumstances that do not enjoy international consensus and which can be misinterpreted by U.N. agencies," Azar said.

The remarks came at a U.N. summit focused largely on climate change and health care. Azar was joined by representatives from countries including Brazil, Poland and Iraq in making the statement.

"There is no international right to an abortion, and these terms should not be used to promote pro-abortion policies and measures," Azar added. "Further, we only support sex education that appreciates the protective role of the (traditional) family."

For him, everything's for and about "me." Wonder how many abortions he's paid for?

But we really NEED to focus on our religious right extremists. It's all about taking over our nation to serve their god (them!), and they're now embedded in all levels and functions of government around the nation. Trump's hardly the only one who doesn't dare cross them. When he's gone, they will remain. Even in the WH if Pence succeeds to his position since Pence is one of them and was huge in getting the others theirs.

We get them out of government by getting Republicans out.

That falls directly in the category of American, religious fundamentalism and moralizing in an effort to detract from and repress women's fundamental rights.

This type of rhetoric is not supported by many citizens here and it has no place in that kind of venue.

So, this is an alert to us all when we see it taken into an international forum and we can wonder if this is as much an inducement or a reinforcement for archaic and barbarian dominance of women here. I think this is a genuine cause for concern and another prong in a battle against democracy itself.

From the article:

"The United States is isolated. Their position is extreme," Kowalski, of IWHC, said in an interview with NPR. "They read their statement in conjunction with countries like Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain — which are hardly champions of women's rights. And if they're the countries that the U.S. is aligning themselves with, then I think we're right to dismiss that they have any moral stake in this battle."

At least there was some sane counterpoint. So, is the USA now becoming an official supporter of the suppression of rights? This has to stop! Obviously there is far more influence by Christian Fascists than people realize, now.

You know, if Pence replaces T-Rump, then we have that kind of policy, domestic and foreign, to look forward to. Pence is a figurehead for what we might call, Theocracy.
