Will this be the latest in the year that a DNC has ever been held?

Not a complaint, just a question.

I seem to remember them always being held in August(even when the Dems were the incumbent party and went second).

Anybody know of a Dem convention being held in September prior to this?

I think what happened is the Republicans tried to box in the Democrats. LiberalFighter Sep 2012 #1
I wonder what would have happened if we'd had our convention THE SAME WEEK as theirs? Ken Burch Sep 2012 #2

By selecting their dates first the Democrats didn't have a choice. There should be 2 or 4 weeks that the party not in power cannot select.

Another factor might be the campaign finance laws regarding when federal campaign funds.

These things have been reduced to little more than pep rallies anyway, so why not hold them close to election time? That way we get everybody all excited and ready to vote. What I'm really worried about is the short amount of time left to get people registered now that the voter id laws have been overturned. We need to get to work people.

And at least we're not looking at Mittman and Robbin' coming out of Tampa ten or twelve points up.
