to run the country??? Oh yah, right......

(10,190 posts)We seem to have this attitude that the filthy rich earned everything they accumulated, worked harder and smarter than everyone else and are blessed by a magical being in the sky with all their loot.
When in fact the majority of the filthy rich had the feudal royal luck of being born into wealth and privilege. They never earned their starting capital it was handed to them. Many of them are always high or drunk because having everything handed to you makes for a meaningless life. The great majority of them are criminals, at the very least con artists with some being thieves and most being swindlers. Some have run over and killed people (and never been held accountable) and many have proclitivityies for having sex with children.
If a magical being in the sky were to reward people with loot, why pick such horrid ones?

(10,190 posts)But we don't dwell on their faults and disorders. We only seem to praise them for their excessive accumulation of wealth.
Yet when it comes to the poor, we love to dwell on their negative stereotypes. Politicians love to use the stereotype of the poor to cut benefits and give the filthy rich more tax giveaways. They love to put job and drug screening mandates on the poor for them to get life saving benefits. They shoo the poor off onto churches who require them to believe in an imaginary magical being in the sky to obtain relief from suffering. The stereotype of the poor is taken as fact and used to make policy eversince Raygun.
Maybe if we used the stereotype of the rich to make policy, the US wouldn't have to be abused by by stupid psychopaths like Traitor Trump.

So, it's no wonder that they think that a billionaire could run the country.

(35,443 posts)They came of age during the economic collapse of 2008. So, they don't buy the "masters of the universe" bullshit. How can they be "masters" when they needed bailouts from the taxpayers?
Younger people want a return to big government which is why Sanders and Warren are popular.

(5,124 posts)businessman who was a decent politician. I didn't always agree with his politics as Mayor of NYC but he served honorably. The problem with Trump is that he is a fraud. A conman. Nothing but a common criminal. People were fooled by the reality tv show to think he was a successful business man.
Its now interesting to see how many people have accepted his criminality. Its not hard to see how atrocities/genocide happen in other countries. It can happen here. People are almost willing to give up the democracy to be able to be racist out in the open once again, put women back in their places and own the libs.
Farmer-Rick
(10,190 posts)But we don't base our policy on that stereotype.
Yet we do base policy on the stereotype of the poor. Politicians love to put job and drug screening mandates on the meager benefits the poor are eligible for. They let churches force magical thinking on them in exchange for relief. Ever since Raygun it's been a ok to abuse the poor but the "businessman," the filthy rich, are off limits.
So then you create monsters like Traitor Trump.

Unfortunately, I no longer trust the American people to use their heads and do the right thing.

(5,270 posts)Amazing that they will still say they oppose impeachment inquiry because they don't like for politicians to dig up dirt and want them to just run the country, yet "digging up dirt" is exactly what Trump & Co. have been doing along with fabricating and spreading falsehoods about opponents.
His cult thinks its okay that he has conducted nonstop self-serving campaigning along with profiting off his position in every possible way in their delusion that he's some great businessman who knows how to run things.
