At the end, she said they hadn't gotten to anything they had planned for the hour because so much was happening.

Probably the NY Times of Washington Post had the story and had been checking with the WH for a day or two for a comment and the deadline was soon. The WH and Barr realized they got the story from US intelligence and thus could not stop it.

jftr - I assume that Barr and Pompeo have been running all over the world to get intelligence services from other countries to investigate our intelligence services and the FBI and that was just not working out because foreign services were keeping our domestic spooks informed.
