They're daring the House to use Inherent Contempt by their refusals to testify - it's their plan...

With Pompeo and Rudy openly defying House subpoenas, they're hoping the House jails one of their "sympathetic" figures, so they can make hay over it ("but, Rudy's a 'GRANDFATHER'" or some similar nonsense).

Mark my words, it's their "hail mary" pass. My only worry is that the media will fall for it and make martyrs out of their incarcerated brethren.

It's up to us to keep furthering the narrative that they're criminals for openly defying the Rule Of Law, and to PUSH for the use of Inherent Contempt since NOTHING ELSE will compel them to follow the Law.

I, for one, demand compliance with the law and to the letter. Nothing else is acceptable.

I just have to voice emphatically that we cannot allow anyone, regardless of their status or position, to be above and beyond the law like this. Anyone who transcends the laws of the land for those reasons both threatens and does serious damage to the entire system and that is critical right now.

This is beyond individuals and mere circumstances; it is fundamental and far reaching.

It has to work the very first time we use it. We can't back down.

There are options short of imprisonment, for example hefty fines... Painful fines.

I don't fully understand the "writ of mandamus." Could that be used to force compliance?

12. Volker special envoy to Ukraine who just resigned

had already agreed to appear before Intelligence this Thursday. Pompeo, who's already been caught lying this week about the Ukraine phone call and what he knew about it is in no position to deny anything to the co-equal branch of government that has subpoenaed him or those who work under him. If Volker doesn't show up as expected, he should be the first one found in inherent contempt and fined. This game can't go on much longer.....feels like they all are testing whether or not they can be above the law and the Constitution. Pompeo needs to be impeached stat. He also needs to be the first one to go to the little jail cell in the basement of Congress. That is just the place for these cartoon criminals. Barr will try the same thing. Both of these grotesque Executives need to be impeached, probably before trump. Things will go smoother in prosecuting trump if those two are out of the way and unable to obstruct any longer. Add the obstruction charges to the articles of impeachment and let's get on with this.

I think they’re grossly miscalculating. I don’t think that’s going to fly. The public knows that you don’t get to ignore a subpoena.

they are clearly leaving Rudy out to dry for his audacity in implicating them. Rudy will have to appear....he doesn't work for the government, and he had zero attorney/client privilege protections as he claims for a variety of reasons...... Rudy will turn over evidence that State was involved and Pompeo will be fucked. Behind the scenes, I've read Bolton is out to get Pompeo too.....so it'll be a show down between the neocons and the theocons perhaps....although Bolton probably wants to get his book out first.

Sure, he's been jilted, but he doesn't seem like the type to engage in revenge porn. He just wants to bomb somebody. He'll stand to the side and hope to be hired by the next repub administration.
