First Barr.
Now Pompeo and "Doctor" Gorka.
No one knows exactly what these assholes are doing, other than reports that they might be soliciting the Italians (or somebody else) to get dirt to trash US Intelligence on Russian election interference.

(13,903 posts)Rachel Maddow was talking about it last night. Fabricate an smear to destroy the intelligence community's position on Russia and then Trump can impress Putin.

(9,481 posts)Are on the premise that Russia interfered in our election. If Trump and his cronies can invent a cover story that exonerated Russia, then the sanctions go away, which makes Putin a happy dictator.

(13,903 posts)As long as it might be the Russian interference it impugns Trump.

(345 posts)They're shopping for a willing accomplice to help manufacture the "evidence" they want. Probably offering a covert cut of Russian oil revenue that will result when sanctions are lifted following the "exoneration" of Russia.
Bonus percentage if accomplice is willing to "find" evidence that pins a "Russia hoax" conspiracy on the Democratic party.

(7,947 posts)Mifsud, the "professor" he consorted with, met him there once, I seem to recall.
Connects with Trump's very recent demand that the Aussies (do whatever, implicate the FBI, Hillary, something?). It was to an Australian diplomat Papadopoulos drunkenly spewed all his secrets.
Think about it. Right this very moment, Barr might be trying to obstruct justice.

(19,991 posts)Other countries have intelligence agencies that could be helpful to Trump in 2020. They just have to find the right contacts there. Maybe Salvini was far enough inside to make some contacts and would be glad to help out for a price.

(12,712 posts)But Oligarchs are going to Oligarchy. It seems like we are also moving a few board game steps farther away from democracy all total.
Sometimes events can make that seem less transparent, no conspiracy theory intended. It is very possible that the shaking of the tree will reveal a few acorns here and there. The news is not so much about "fake" as it is selective, both in what is reported and, more importantly, what is not mentioned. Ah, who owns over 80% of the media, prey tell?
Like Carlin said, (I paraphrase) they have a club and we are not members. We aren't invited to attend. It is exclusive.
Does anyone think that the general population has access to all information concerning certain matters or even an approximation of what goes on in the backrooms? That would be naive.
