Where courts have generally required congressional oversight requests to demonstrate a legitimate legislative purpose, impeachment requests could be wide-ranging.
It is unclear if Democrats would wade into a lengthy legal fight with the administration over documents and testimony letter, or if they would move straight to considering articles of impeachment.

(2,199 posts)Impeachment is a political process, and relies heavily on public opinion. How this all plays out hinges on support by the American people. We've already seen a jump in support.
House Dems have the advantage the longer this goes on (not too long though) as more and more evidence comes to light through the media.

(111,110 posts)There is an air of desperation in their response.
They are not saying they will not comply (which they won't) . They are saying there was not an official vote in the full House so they do not have to comply.
It is their game of delay.

(4,720 posts)No one has the power, or has the nerve to claim the power, to enforce anything. Without consequences, this will quickly devolve into another joke. Ive supported impeachment all along, but I was also concerned the administration would respond with a big, So What. Well, their response is🖕🏼Yall. So, what does the House do now?

(595 posts)If the subpoena is specific and well formed, the SC would most possibly rule in the House's favor and the whole country would better understand where DT stands and turn further against him. Losing in the SC will be a game changing moment for DT in the impeachment and allow the House access to further damning evidence.
