What is the strategy now with Pence as guilty as Trump?

Knowing that That Pence was a willing partner in the conspiracy, how can Congress impeach Trump without impeaching Pence, Barr, Pompeo, and possibly others in the cabinet?

In what order does the House send impeachment articles to the Senate?

As unlikely as it is that a conviction of Trump is possible, it seems impossible to see the KGOP hand the Presidency to Nancy Pelosi.

If the crimes prove to be as egregious as they appear, the Republicans could see leaving either in place as the death of the party.

Pelosi could offer a deal;

1. Remove Pence
2. Pelosi temporarily resigns as Speaker.
3. Bill Weld or Mitt Romney elected Speaker (pro-forma).
4. Trump convicted making the "caretaker" Speaker the new President.
5. The new President nominates a moderate Democrat to be caretaker VEEP.

This keeps the White House is Republican hands until the next election. The caretakers pledge NOT to run in 2020. It gets the known criminals out of the way. The nuclear codes are secure.

It would take a massive shift to bipartisanism...a very tall order. It would give BOTH parties a path forward.

I fear that, unless some "out of the box" solution is negotiated, a stalemate will leave us in danger that NEITHER party wants.

Please comment if you have thoughts about ways to remove both criminals.

If the pro-forma speaker launched any mischief, the Democratic majority would remove him on the spot.

Pence would become president automatically and would be nearly impossible to remove.
But does anyone want to fight over pence during the trump impeachment?

I expect if trump is deposed pence will become president no matter how dirty he is.

How about this.

1 - Either Pence or Trump resigns. Resignee probably has to get pardoned.
2 - Trump or now Pres Pence nominates new concensus VP
3 - Pres resigns. Probably have to agree to him getting pardon.
4 - Another concensus VP is nominated.

This would probably be enough to appease the Rs.
Trump and Co still liable for state prosecutions.

There is no way the Rs are going to allow WH to revert to Ds.

... I do see something now that i did not see clearly, earlier. Pence has always been 100% involved. I thought they were trying to keep him "clean" in case he was needed to assume the Presidency. Republicans would, of course, love President Pence - Trump policies without the drama... Republicans must have known the VP was in on everything, which may be one of the reasons they are stuck...

... back to your scenario... I would not resign as speaker. i think Pelosi can put up a name for the vote. By rights, it should be Hillary Clinton, but that would not be confirmed. A Republican sounds would get the votes. I prefer Weld over Romney.

no need to bend over for them, have the speaker resign (what?) negotiate some cockamamie scheme with a ten minute puke speaker (what?) etc. Yeah, no

As we have learned (or should have learned) in recent years, Republicans do not play fair. Give them a micron and they'll find a way to steamroll themselves into sole leadership (using the term lightly). Pelosi knows this, and she knows how powerful the role of speaker can be.

The 25th amendment makes provisions for selecting a new vice president in case the old one is no longer able to function for what ever reason. If the vice president resigns, dies, or is removed from office the president may appoint a replacement - who has to be approved by a majority of both houses of Congress. That's how we might be able to get a semi-moderate caretaker president - if McConnell comes to his senses and remembers his oath of office.
