Perry pressed Ukraine on corruption, energy company changes

The energy secretary's role in pushing the president's message in Kiev was more extensive than publicly known, people familiar with Perry's activities tell POLITICO.

Energy Secretary Rick Perry urged Ukraine's president to root out corruption and pushed the new government for changes at its state-run oil and gas company, people familiar with his work said Friday — indications that he was more deeply involved than previously known in President Donald Trump’s efforts to pressure officials in Kiev.

The people said they have no indication that Perry explicitly called on Ukrainian officials to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter, the issue that has spawned a House impeachment inquiry into Trump. But at the very least, they said , Perry played an active role in the Trump administration's efforts to shape decisions by the newly elected government of President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Among other changes, Perry pushed for Ukraine’s state-owned natural gas company Naftogaz to expand its board to include Americans, two people familiar with the matter said. Two long-time energy executives based in Perry’s home state of Texas were among those under consideration for that role, one source familiar with the administration’s dealings with the company said.

Energy Department spokeswoman Shaylyn Hynes said Perry had advised that the board be expanded. She was not immediately able to comment on whether Perry had suggested names to fill new seats.

The luck started with just trading off of smile/hair/looks. Blandness, no convictions/principles, no controversy (because no convictions), attractive to backers.

Big luck, inherits the governorship when Shrub leaves. Luck, Texas has the Weak Governor System, where there's little power, just window dressing. Then more luck, a couple of times some third party types drained off votes from the Dems so he won with less than majorities. All the while just being a sales rep for fat cat oil/gas. Nothing to do except show up, smile, glad hand.

Then just playing the fool in national primaries, but willing to submit to SHITLER for a job that he delegates to a deputy, an article out there saying that for the past year he hasn't attended cabinet meetings just sends the deputy. Not to mention that he is so ignorant that he thought the Energy Department was about oil and gas. Besides that during the primaries, wasn't it one of the OOPS ones he wanted to eliminate.

So his disappearing act, besides traveling the world with his wife, was to be errand boy for SHITLER's shennanigans.

As for his testifying against SHITLER, we can't get our hopes up: He will just say he didn't know what he was doing and *that* will be totally believable.

In this case it's going to depend on how deep he was in and how much can be proven.

There's a reason he's clean, he's a worm and he squirms out of harms way like the spineless creature he is. This time he's in the big time and it won't be as easy as he's been used to in the past. If it gets hot on him, despite the people he was there promoting, he'll cave. Worms like Perry are convenient until they're laid bare in the harsh sun. Then they shrivel up and become desiccated.

There had to be better fall guys to pick from here than such a weak person?
