2. The majority voted Democratic in 2016.

The majority didn't win.

Simply being in the majority and voting is not enough. The votes have to come in the right places.

3. Enough of us, way too many of us, didn't vote

Between Russian trolling, Republican lies and smears, and radical left delusions of grandeur from the like of Jill Stein and Susan Sarandon and some others, we got Orange Hitler.

Read the article. Ulyses S. Grant was correct. Stop whining about our enemy and focus on our own troops.

5. Read the article.

Here, an excerpt. But do click the link.

...

In May of 1864 Grant came up against the legendary Confederate commander, Gen. Robert E. Lee. Their armies collided in a nightmarishly dense forest in Virginia in what became known as "The Battle of the Wilderness."

Grant wasn't just fighting Lee's army. He was also battling Lee's reputation. The Southern general had already befuddled Union commanders after what one historian called a series of "outrageous victories." Among them was the battle of Chancellorsville, where Lee broke a cardinal rule of warfare: He divided his outnumbered army in the face of the enemy -- and still won.

One night during the Battle of the Wilderness, Grant's officers rushed into his tent in a panic, warning him what Lee might do if they attacked.

Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee stands for a portrait April 16, 1865 in Richmond, Virginia.

The normally unflappable Grant lost his temper.

"Oh, I am heartily tired of hearing about what Lee is going to do," Grant said, according to acclaimed Civil War historian Shelby Foote. "Some of you always seem to think he is suddenly going to turn a double somersault, and land in our rear and on both of our flanks at the same time. Go back to your command and try to think what we are going to do ourselves, instead of what Lee is going to do."

7. I read it, but it doesn't really have anything to do with the title of your OP.

And my post had to do with the title of your OP, which suggests that winning is simply a matter of voting Democratic because Democrats make up the majority. But it isn't actually that simple.

The article, on the other hand, deals specifically with impeachment and moving forward without worrying so much about what Trump will do.

12. I love the pushback when I say VOTE DEMOCRATIC

"Some doubters warn that pursuing impeachment will only rile up Trump's base even more by claiming 'liberal elites screw people like us.'"

"
But if you're a Democrat who wants your party to emerge from the political wilderness of the Trump era, there's another President you should look to: Grant is your man."

And yes the article speaks to impeachment but there is a broader message.

I assume everyone here will vote and will vote Democratic.

Gerrymandering controls the House and many state houses.

The presidential race is also determined by where the Democrats live.

17. This is absolutely correct if you look at the numbers inside the deciding EC states

Despite all Trump's chest-beating, he won with very slim numbers in the deciding electoral college states of Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. Around 80,000 votes in total. And the number of Stein voters + the slight downturn in the Democratic electorate vote (many of whom felt Clinton was a lock anyway) made all the difference. Yes, there were other elements in play but the truth of your premise is solid. Had Democrats come out and voted as if their lives depended on it in 2016, Voted Blue No Matter Who, instead of listening to the likes of Susan Sarandon, we would not be dealing with the Trumpian nightmare. Btw, anyone who still believes Hillary Clinton was equal to or worse than Donald Trump needs immediate psychiatric intervention.

Pretending that Trump and his bunch of goons are invincible (as with General Lee and his outnumbered Confederate troops) is a false narrative, one that could become a self-fulfilling prophecy because of fear, myth-making and indecisiveness. We commit 100%, get our people out in massive numbers, we win. Because math. See 2018 as an example. There were a number of Dems who said that historic victory couldn't, wouldn't happen. And then, it did. And that was even with foreign trolls back at it, pounding their keyboards day and night.

So for me the parallel works.

Btw, I hit the link for the reassessment of Lee, the myth and the man. Fascinating stuff.

Thanks for link!
