OTOH, it would be nice to have some Republicans vote to convict.

(3,030 posts)than she's ever been before. And with good reason. I generally assume a politician will do what is good for themselves politically, and I think it's pretty clear in this case that voting to convict will help her get rid of the very reputation you noted.
So I expect she will vote to convict, and my hypothetical question was about the effects of that, assuming it happens.

(5,499 posts)Trump will not forgive any Republicans that vote to either impeach or convict. I'm not sure if I was a Republican that I would want to be a lone wolf. I think those Senators like Susan Collins will be looking at a path to 67 votes.

(4,743 posts)And while Mainers are "sensible" and arguably quite conservative (small-c), they don't hold with this truck. Iff (no typo) she convicts, and he's convicted, she'll keep her seat. It's her only chance and quite frankly it's a good bellwether.
