Attorney for Jean's Family: Neighbor Who Testified Against Amber Guyger Shot and Killed in Dallas

Attorney for Botham Jean’s Family: Neighbor Who Testified Against Amber Guyger Shot and Killed in Dallas

Joshua Brown, the next door neighbor of Botham Jean, was shot and killed late Friday night in Dallas, Texas, an attorney for Jean’s family said. Brown recently testified for the prosecution in the murder trial of former Dallas cop Amber Guyger.

According to the Dallas Morning News, officers arrived on the scene at around 10:30 p.m. to the Atera apartments located at the 4600 block of Cedar Springs Road in Dallas’ Turtle Creek neighborhood.

Per that report:

Police found a man on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Witnesses told police they heard several gunshots and saw a silver four-door sedan speeding out of the parking lot.

The Dallas Police Department (DPD) has yet to release information about the victim or the suspect. But attorneys with knowledge of the case and Brown’s family confirmed Brown’s identity via social media on Saturday afternoon.

Some of the "dirty" cops keep throw-away guns for situations like this, or when they want to plant a gun on a dead suspect.
Not saying this was the case, but don't expect the bullet to lead back to a police issue gun.

the perpetrators would have to be among the stupidest criminals alive if they used an easily traceable weapon.

Still......We are possibly talking about a revenge killing here, so who knows.

Not to mention if it is true this was dirty cops, the cops will be investigating the cops! So again, I don't hold much hope for an accurate, much less swift resolution.

Any gun the cops use are also common and available to the civilian market, so knowing it was a Glock doesn't really narrow it down, unless they have ballistics data on all the police-issued guns and start comparing bullets.

A very large percentage of semi-auto pistols sold are either 9mm, .40 S&W, or .45 ACP, which are the most common police service cartridges, so those are not distinctive in any way.

It's possible the DPD might use a type of ammo that is law enforcement specific, so that is a potential source of useful evidence.

I have no problem admitting I am wrong once I have actually been proven wrong. What I really have a problem with is those who try to chastise anyone skeptical of the police when something smells rotten, as though we must be out of our minds to even suggest the police could do something that awful. Every single day in this country some cop somewhere is railroading or beating or killing a person of color simply because of their color and they are getting away with it because of the blue line. It’s a huge problem but not everyone is aware of it.
