In an interview, Sen. Ron Johnson (R., Wis.) said he learned of a potential quid pro quo from the U.S. ambassador to the European Union, Gordon Sondland, who told him that aid to Ukraine was tied to the desire by Mr. Trump and his allies to have Kyiv undertake investigations that the president has sought.

I wonder who else knew this was going on? I bet a lot of elected Republicans had knowledge about this and sat on it.

(588 posts)In the report I read, Johnson said that after he heard a rumor about it, he called Trump on the phone to ask about it, and that Trump flatly denied it, which (in Johnson's mind) shows that it isn't true.
In other words, Johnson said that he heard the rumor but then determined that it's false.
