Trump voters literally look reality in the face and then say, I don't see it. I'm not just talking about the uneducated white trash Trump voters, I am also talking about highly educated Trump voters.
They see the crimes Trump is committing, they admit it, then they say, I don' see it, I don't see a crime. It is the most bizarre behavior I have ever seen in my entire life.
Imagine everything you believe is real is all of the sudden taken from you. That is what is going to happen to the Trump voters. Some may get violent, most will not. Most of them will be in a state of shock, terrified and get depressed. They won't know what to do.
When Trump goes down I believe most Trump voters will become very quiet.

(23,957 posts)"most presidential harrassment evah" and all that bullshit he's been piling up for 4 years now, becomes gospel for his True Believers. I used to think they'd shut up about him after he's gone but now i'm thinking the Trump presidency is going to be viewed as Camelot and Democrats will be the Mordred of the story

Newest Reality
(12,712 posts)It is loyalty that is the scaffolding and structure of their worldview. Think about loyalty and what it means. Of course, this only applies to people who tend to admire and respect authority and even require it in order to feel safe and secure. Loyalty, taken to the extreme, is capable of operating above and beyond the dictates of reason, law, common good, etc.
That type is largely immune to what we would consider a rational approach to government, politics and the economy. They may act more from a deep-seated need, (possibly inculcated in childhood) to have a controller controlling things and that may even be projected onto the idea of a Father figure, as per God, or an authoritarian, tin pot dictator. Somebody has to be "in control" and the most convincing individual that says what they want to hear can fill that hole.
With that in mind, they are then victims of the most potent kind of confirmation bias. They only seek to know or understand things in a way that confirms their loyalty to what they believe and who represents it. The danger in this kind narrow, biased reality, they can even consider the negative impacts they experience as part of some "greater good" or a process that will eventually bring about their expected outcome(s). They would be willing to frame their personal losses as necessary sacrifices for the cause.
That means that anything and everything could be fair game, even setting the world on fire and destroying what is fundamental to a working society. Don't expect those types to change colors or even admit a defeat.
Thankfully, they are a minority, so I don't consider them a threat to the election, though it is a contributing factor. Meanwhile, they may support the egregious actions of this MisAdminstration, and that is troubling.

(43,180 posts)it's all about their greed, thinking Trump would plunder everything their taxes paid for and they would get more money from the fallout.
little did they know he would eviscerate the government, but give it all to the 1% instead of them
They were, and are, JUST PLAIN STUPID!

(4,610 posts)They've already convinced themselves that Schiff personally wrote the whistleblower report and that everything that is now happening, including subpoenas being issued, is illegitimate because there hasn't been a procedural vote to open an 'impeachment inquiry.'
If Trump gets impeached, and even removed, there will be no 'reality' crashing through to them, only a conviction that the vast evil Deep State conspiracy complex finally prevailed. The only thing they will take from this is that they must be even more extreme and lockstep next time.
