There is one main question going forward.

How far will the GOP go in defending Trump.
His crimes are already all to apparent. And only more crime, corruption and his betrayal of America will be coming out.
So they only thing that will really effect events is how long will Mitch and the GOProud Boys continue to be co-dependent enablers?
I have know idea of the answer, but that will determine the next 13 months.

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.

I have called the office of my Senators and Representative to remind them of this oath, but it seems that they have forgotten and don't particularly care to be reminded.

Great question, Ed. Very important.

There are three overlapping factors -- the first is the timing of reppublicans' re-elections, the second is the timing of the public release of more evidence of high crimes and misdemeanors, and the third is the public's understanding of the Founding Fathers' beliefs on impeachment as detailed in the Ferderalist Papers.

Hence, those in the House will most likely continue to serve as guard dogs, snarling and biting everything they view as posing a danger to their master. Those in the Senate may be more hesitant to go too far out on a limb for Trump. Not all, of course. But as a group, there will likely be less snarling and biting, for they tend to be better trained.

republican senators up for re-election in 2020 will be prone to supporting Trump, to avoid having a primary with a rabid-right candidate. That will make them more vulnerable in the general elections.

Those not up for re-election for longer are more likely to vote to convict Trump in his Senate trial, because they believe the rabid-right threat will fade in 2022 and 2024.

Another important factor that I believe is being overlooked is that John Roberts will be influencing the Senate trial. While I'm not fond of his social beliefs, he recognizes that Trump is a danger to the country.
