She used to tell the locals about life in America and her children. And they would tell her about Indian history and culture and she loved it.

Then when Jimmy became President, on his first State Visit to India with Rosalynn he made a request to stop by the village his mother told him about.

A side note is after the visit the Carter Administration kept tabs with the local governance of the village and offered to help but the Indian government declined the offer.
