I asked recently retired US ambassador in the Middle East @AmbDana her thoughts on Trump reversal abandoning the Kurds. Without hesitation: Turkey wants to invade, Russia wants us out. Trump caves. No nuance. No care for the consequences for us or the region. Its beyond awful.

(12,712 posts)to tRumps business interests and the Kurds are not part of them. We will see this again and again. You can bet on it.
He is, to me, doing the very same thing he has always done and he is using the office to build, (or rebuild?) his empire on the backs of the people of this and other countries. We did have the emoluments issue brought up seriously in the past and now it has come to roost. It is in plain sight and unquestionable.
It's like the old story of The Frog and the Scorpion. The frog was convinced to ignore the nature of the Scorpion and they both went down.
It is his nature. He has spent his entire life honing the dirty deal, screwing people and getting his pitiful way. What's new? What has changed? Oh, he can now annex our government in that pursuit and if we don't like it, he'll take it all down if he can.
Simple.

(7,220 posts)Or doing Putin's bidding. Besides, Kurds have brown skin and no money, resources or land. Just wait for tRump to start disparaging them, and the (R) sheeple will fall in line.

(1,115 posts)DU makes me feel great right here. We cannot tolerate the Kurds
being eliminated. I really have a great feeling about them and I
have never met one (to my knowledge).
I enjoy reading ancient history and have a feeling that they
are from the Cappadocia that does not really exist anymore.
The last king of Cappadocia died in A.D. 17 in Rome. I just feel
we should learn more about these people (and protect them).
They are to me like the American Indian.

(4,341 posts)They know it is not the right thing to do, that it is against the interest of the country, that the creature is doing Putin's work, so why is the military not defending the USA? By now they have to know the creature is the enemy of the people, and they swore to defend the country against foreign and domestic threats, well...the creature is a threat, the creature is attacking us, and so are his minions.
