(4,982 posts)My waking thoughts today were of fear for the Kurds, and the sting of betrayal and shame that the vile inhabitant of the WH has plunged our allies into such peril.
More people need to hear and know the story of the Kurds. Right now. Im going to poll people in my daily life if they know whats happening to the Kurds, to the people who helped pushback ISIS. It isnt enough, but it is something I can do to resist.

(6,831 posts)Both the time it took and he felt that, at times, he wasn't getting the actual, real words of the people he was interviewing. Some translators were putting their own spin on interviews. Arabic is NOT an easy language to learn for Western-speaking people, so I have great respect for him learning it. Also, now he knows he's getting the real words as there is no need for an interpreter.
Much of this video was new to me. I have much respect for Engel as he has done everything to bring the stories to us, at great personal cost.
The more languages you speak, the more bridges to communication you build.

Thanks for posting. I've always like Engel. He has a great grasp of the issues and all of the different perspectives. This episode of "On Assignment" is excellent.
