(18,486 posts)Just because you don't see them on CNN and MSNBC doesn't mean they're not reacting or getting coverage where it really matters.
One of the purposes of recess is to allow Members to interact with their constituents in their communities and get coverage in their local media, which is considerably more effective and impactful than doing a three-minute hit on cable news shows many of their constituents probably don't watch anyway.

I think all of Congress might be more valuable front and center. Maybe not, but why take the chance?

(18,486 posts)And a bunch of Members of Congress doing three minute hits on MSNBC is no match for them being spread out across the country in their districts.
Not to mention the fact that they don't have to be in DC to do cable news anyway. When was the last time you saw a member of Congress in the studio being interviewed? They're almost always interviewed remotely - and that can be done from wherever they are.
