Rachel Maddow Warns That Trump Is Deteriorating At An Alarming Rate Due To Impeachment

Rachel Maddow Warns That Trump Is Deteriorating At An Alarming Rate Due To Impeachment

snip//

Maddow pointed to the president’s sudden and unexpected shift in foreign policy in Syria as the latest evidence of Trump’s increasingly unstable conduct.

Maddow said:

As this impeachment proceeding goes forward and does not slow down and continues to turn up more negative information about the president and his behavior, we are seeing some even weirder than usual behavior by the president. I don’t like to focus on the president’s statements too much, especially his online statements. I think he uses Twitter basically to outrage people and get people talking about things on his terms rather than what otherwise might be driven by the news. So I try to sort of steer clear. That said, I do watch what he says, even if I don’t talk about it a lot. The president today online opining apparently in all seriousness about what he calls, quote, my great and unmatched wisdom. ‘As I have stated strongly before, and just to reiterate, if Turkey does anything that I, in my great and unmatched wisdom, consider to be off-limits.’ I mean that just feels a little weirder than usual from the president. What that statement from the president was about is something weirder than usual too. Apparently, on impulse or at least on zero notice after he completed a phone call with the president of Turkey last night, the president got off that call and basically immediately announced a radical change of U.S. policy in Syria.

Trump is only going to get worse as the impeachment fight rages on

As Democrats continue to gather evidence and more damning information comes to light about this president’s misconduct, Trump is only going to get worse.

His tweets are going to become more outrageous. His decisionmaking process – to the extent that he had one to begin with – is going to be more reckless. His behavior will become more and more unstable.

Combine that with a looming election that – with or without impeachment – was always going to be a tough climb for the president, and the next year is going to be a dangerous time in American politics.

Donald Trump is desperate and he knows impeachment could bring his presidency down. It looks as though he’s ready to bring the country down with him

the fact remains he could screw us up really, really badly as he goes down. Oh, sure, we've all said it will take at least a decade, probably more, to clean up his mess, and as to the earth and its continued habitability, we'll see. Jury is still out on that one.

But Trump has the nuclear football.

He could take us with him when he goes down, literally.

we should have known that this would happen when the Executive Branch kept grabbing more power over the years. Now we will have a hard time removing an obvious criminal from the White House.

I am glad that Rachel gets what Trump does with those tweets. It is another tactic.

When we say he will get weirder or worse, I hope it is clear that what that means is very important because it also implies a danger.

If wanted to be sensational or partisan about it, I would. That's easy to do and it is reactionary and I shy away from that as best I can.

What is frustrating here is contemplating what could happen and having to live with the idea that we have to wait for either an impeachment to go full course or the next election. That is a big window of opportunity for this shrewd, unethical manipulator. It is one thing to manipulate, but to also have as much power as the office provides is of great concern.

I have asked this before: What happens if he takes the country down with him? Just what actions and behaviors would be considered a brink? What would or could be done? Are we vulnerable due to the fact that our system has been invaded and usurped now?

All he has to do is look at the tweet contents and he can ban Trumpy from Twitter. Twitter is Trumpy's lifeblood. He's abused countless people using Dorsey's vehicle. He's conducted a foreign policy that will kill innocent people. Dorsey does nothing but collect his profits.

Trumpy is a big Twitter hit. He's a draw. Profit and traffic speak louder than ethical considerations or moral values, unless one is exceptional and willing to make a sacrifice. The bottom-line rules.

just simple communicating or tweeting. He’s agitating. He’s deliberately stirring up shit. Shit that is on the knife edge of actual violence. Can this be allowed?

Does this become an argument about freedom of speech versus shouting “Fire!” in a crowded theatre. Madness and chaos and panic and physical injury or worse - even death.

We’ve all seen what happens when nutcases get stirred up into violence and innocent people get killed. Heather Heyer anyone?

To me, the stochastic terrorism is real, intentional and a threat. I am sorry, but Charles Manson comes to mind and brings up the ethical question concerning culpability for inciting other people to act in harmful ways. It bears more consideration.

Has anybody been calling Twitter out on that? I am not a user, though I do read tweets that are recommended here. It is a rather noisy cesspool in some respects. Often, (not always) it turns out to be another abstract battleground for keyboard warriors and propagandists, plus I prefer more depth and Twitter contrasts that with the byte.

I suspect that the pressure will be more than Donnie can stand and he’ll either stroke out, flip out, or have a fatal heart attack no later than mid-March next year. Folks over at the Biden, Warren, and Sanders campaign headquarters should start putting in a little thought as to how to run against Father Pence.

just think how difficult he’ll find the general election next fall.

I’m old enough to remember Gerry Ford running against Jimmy Carter. Ford had the Nixon pardon tied around his neck, but Father Pence would find the reek of Trump far more pervasive.

The Earth President gained office after having the previous President assassinated. John Sheridan and some of the Earth Forces became rebels due to the Earth's illegal orders. As they close in on taking out President Clark, Clark turned the Earth defense system onto Earth and then committed Suicide.

The Earth Forces loyal to Earth had to work with the rebels to take out the defense system before the destroyed Earth.

That is it in a nutshell.

In another plot line, there was also a bat shit crazy Emperor of the Centauri who was willing to allow his planet to be destroyed because he thought he would become a God.

tell you how many times I watch it. I got rid of cable a while back and there is a tv station called Comet that I get over the air that is a Sci Fi Channel. Monday - Thursday they show 2 episodes of Stargate SG-1 (another awesome show) and then 2 episodes of Babylon 5. A lot of story lines on Babylon 5 are still relevant. Great cast, great plot lines. You can tell the writers really thought ahead because there was one episode early on that came back around later on in a two part episode that brought the plot line into a full circle while revealing some answers.

I have watched it enough that I can just about quote some of the dialog in some of my favorite scenes. They also had a lot of great guest appearances.

The short version; weasely, autocratic prez, the facades and lies come crashing down eventually. In a fit of pique and paranoia, he turns Earth's planetary defense system inward; locks everyone out, scribbles some nuttery, and kills himself.

IMO this is the most worrisome aspect of Trump's lunacy, is his finger on the nuclear trigger.

disaster of a presidency. They bolstered him, supported him through everything and now the entire country has to suffer for it. They put a Russian ass-et in the WH, took lots of Russian money and now look what they caused. Why do the repubs. ALWAYS scrape the very bottom of every barrel for their "representatives"? As long as the adults got what the wanted out of trump, he could basically do whatever he wanted. As long as he didn't piss off the adults in the room, trump could play in his little sandbox to his hearts content. Now that he's gone rouge, the adults have to take over. The adults will first have a conversation with trump. If consultation (threats) doesn't work and he continues with this troop withdrawal fiasco, then the adults will quietly walk over to Nancy Pelosi and request that they skip the inquiry and press forward with impeachment. Send the impeachment to the senate for a quick trial, and then let's see if we can't kick a billionaire's ass out of washington DC!!
