is the right thing to do. The NBA of all leagues should be leading on human rights as they usially do. I'm relieved. How far will China go in shutting up the world? If they ban the NBA their people will know and suffer and blame China. The people are basketball mad. If the NBA with this group of player leadership doesn't stand up it would be a shame.I kind of felt no matter how management kowtowed the players would not allow it and i bet that is what happened.
Here is an earlier bit on the story:

(5,403 posts)Some people don't want to face the facts that China is a horrible country, it begins with their abysmal record on human rights then continues into theft of intellectual property and counterfeiting of products, 87% of the counterfeit goods seized in the US are from Hong Kong and mainland China, for the rest of the world it is at 80%. The South China Sea is an awful land grab, with China having their Coast Guard and exploration ships in Vietnamese waters they are really ramping things up and this could draw in the US since we have a mutual defense treaty with the Philippines, one of the countries China is stealing from. Trump is right to stand up to China, he is just too stupid to know how to do it.

(14,118 posts)I had no desire to be whisked away to a secret prison so I did my best to behave in a friendly and non-controversial manner, avoiding the arrogance I found in other travelers I met. That worked for me.
A wise man has sad that true change must come from within. The goes for persons like tRUMP and nations too. Unless there is that personal/national epiphany then any and all outside efforts will be wasted. The best way to influence another government would be for the US government to present a rational and ethical methodology of dealing with other peoples and governments. That's not happening and it strikes me as hypocritical for the leader of a sports franchise to speak out when (cough) Colin Rand Kaepernick (cough) got blackballed for his personal demonstrations.
Now I'm not always that smart but when I was in China the only reply to questions about politics I made was that I didn't make or enforce US laws. And to be honest very few Chinese people brought up the topic. Ninety-nine percent of the Chinese people I met were friendly or neutral and that's a ratio I found wherever I traveled.

I dare the NBA to support US citizens locking down airports in the US.
