For a "long time", Dump had a competent Chief of Staff who wasn't afraid to stand up to him, guide him, etc. Which kept him out of trouble for the most part.
And Dump hated that. Felt like he was being managed (which he was) and unable to do what he wanted to do, say what he wanted to say, etc. So he never bothered to fill the role.
Now, he just has a fill in. No way would a Chief of Staff would let the Ukraine phone call go the way it did...much less allow even a redacted summary that implicated him.
And the ironic part, all he had to do was get his campaign to hire a "research hit job" company to dig if not manufacture dirt on Biden, and it would have been legal. But he see's the campaign money as "his" money, much like he got pissed off at Christie for using "his" money for a transition team, so like the grifter he is, wanted someone else pay the bill but reap the reward.
Dump got rid of all the competent people keeping him there. And surprise, surprise, now he finds himself in a bad predicament with no one capable of salvaging this mess.
Pelosi wasn't kidding, he's impeaching himself.

(15,115 posts)We know that he has dismissed all of the reasonable people out of his administration. And he DOES think of those campaign funds as his money. Which is why he won't allow the campaign to pay for the security at his little hate-fest rallies. He stiffs the cities of this country just like he stiffed the electricians and plumbers and his tacky hotels.
He can't crash and burn soon enough!

(42,564 posts)Mulvaney will adopt a much larger role in politics and messaging, and plans to take a more laissez-faire approach to some quirks of the Trump White House that irked Kelly like nonessential staffers attending meetings, or the president frequently reaching out to longtime friends, Republican lawmakers and advisers for advice or dinners in the White House residence.
At one point, Mulvaney told an ally he thought Kelly did a disservice to the president by constantly saying no. I did not take that as a sign that Mick would never push back, but he definitely had a feeling that Kelly pushed back too often and did not help the president fulfill his agenda, said the source close to Mulvaney.

Hows that working out, Mick?
