Nancy Pelosi is doing her best to give McConnell and the Republicans time to make a decision...

Mr Trump does not make it easy for them.

Their most immediate concern is not knowing what their president will do next? The unilateral "whim" that he undertook with the advice or knowledge of no one, to surrender Syria to the Turks and the Russians.

If Russia takes Ukraine, which they probably will under this commander-in-chief, then we may be seeing a new Soviet Union emerge?

Also, they are concerned with the time they may have to pick another candidate, if Mr Trump is removed or resigns from office? They need to make their decision soon.

Many of them, perhaps most, will choose to go down with the ship. They see no other option but to stick with Trump.

It appears that Trump has finally broken and divided the last vestige of a great American institution - the Republican Party.

Then I’m afraid it won’t be the Republican Party that disappears, the country as we knew it does.

The exact same statements were said when Reagan was running for re-election in 1984. The country did survive.

I think the country would survive Trump but our alliances and institutions would be in shambles.

Reagan was the puppet of assholes and did asshole work but Тяцмр has all the makings of a dictator. If he were to retain office the damage would be irreparable. It will mean that he escapes all of his crimes and rule with impunity. It will mean at least a 7-2 Supreme Court, a further packed federal court system that gives him cover to do anything. It ends our traditional alliances in the world and allows the worst actors to run rampant.

This is a person who knows nothing and cares nothing about our political and constitutional norms. The Reagan people weren’t like this. They operated outside of the law on certain things but they still respected the separation of powers. They didn’t openly commit crimes like this guy. If this asshole “wins” again the transformation of the country to a much more authoritarian style of government is inevitable.

That such an obvious dullard and buffoon could do this is beyond comprehension but here we are.

The end of America as we knew it for nearly 250 years. The institutions broken, the traditions and norms discarded.

The secret no-notes meetings with Putin were probably about Trump getting a cut on Russian oil and gas deals by setting up the conditions to get the deals done (lifting sanctions, opening territories for pipelines, etc.). Trump sees himself as a future partner in Putin's deals while Putin knows Trump is a fool who can be used like an offensive lineman and then sent to the locker room when he is no longer useful. I could say more but it's a sickening topic so I will just stop now.

They have been trying to get rid of those since Trump came into office. The Senate has stymied Trump on those efforts.
