BOCA RATON, Fla. (CBS12) — Notable Florida Republicans, including Treasure Coast Congressman Brian Mast, have been connected to donations from two Ukrainian businessmen connected to President Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani.

Both men, Igor Fruman and Lev Parnas, were indicted Thursday by federal prosecutors for election law violations. The charges stem from a $325,000 donation to a group supporting President Trump's reelection. Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman, associates of Rudy Giuliani, were arrested Wednesday night trying to flee the country with one-way tickets at Dulles International Airport in Virginia, according to the Associated Press.

Congressman Brian Mast received a $2,173 donation on June 12, 2018, from an “Igor Furman,” according to federal election filings. Federal prosecutors claim “Furman” was an alias Igor Fruman used to donate to campaigns without being detected by the Federal Election Commission. “Furman” donated to several high profile republican candidates in competitive 2018 races.

Congressman Mast will be giving the money back, according to a spokesperson.

I always wonder who they intend to 'give it back' to? A shell corporation that makes illegal political contributions? One would assume that all money held by those entities would be seized.
