We lived in the sticks when I was growing up and elderberry bushes grew wild by the side of the road. We'd pick bunches of elderberries then freeze them for later. My grandparents lived practically next door and had a big old apple tree. Mom would make pies using those apples and elderberries. Heaven. Sheer heaven. Yum!
