It’s finally back on after about 16 hours

What does the utility mean when it says the blackouts will help reduce fires? Sounds strange. Are they wholesale replacing aged transmission lines? If so, why not run parallel lines and then do one switchover that would affect customers for only a few hours?

since two weeks ago was when we actually had real wind conditions that could have been a problem. This was a BS strong-arm move by PG&E, because the PUC opened a formal examination two weeks ago into their Chapter 11 reorganization plan. "Be a real shame if we were held accountable for yet more wildfires and disasters that are clearly our fault."

They told us the power could be off 1 to 5 days after the winds died down. Absolute BS.

They’re just turning off the power when they think their equipment will start a fire. That’s not too hard to predict in CA.

And they don’t do extra stuff to help keep the power on.

Are their transmission lines (transformers, breakers, ect) grossly underdesigned for the power loads that they are transmitting? Are their generating plants throwing off live ash that can land and start fires? If the last case, why don't they buy up land around the plant and make it more resistant to catching fire?
