A festering cancerous growth upon the nation, remove it or die a slow painful death.

The protest at the Trump rally yesterday was a small preview of what is heading our way if Trump is allowed to run for re-election.

It Trump is not removed, runs for re-election and wins by cheating, I believe we could see the largest, most violent protests in our history for this reason. The patriots of America will not allow America to once again be ruled by a king. All hell will break loose.

I understand common sense, reality these past few years have had little meaning. It has been unbearable.

However, I believe, hope, people will begin to understand what will happen if this is allowed to continue and understand the best option for everyone, the Republicans, the nation, even Trump, is for the Republicans to demand Trump's resignation.

that if we do not grow a massive amount of political will toward what is decent and good for the American people, so that we can get rid of Trump, and he cheats and wins, there will be blood in the streets. As in a potential civil war. Because America is NOT going to have a king.Washington ended that notion right off the bat when he stepped down voluntarily after serving. Like him, the OP is saying we need to walk the walk and not just talk the talk.

An acquaintance, who voted for Trump but does not like him now, recently commented that he just couldn’t vote for Warren if she’s the candidate because she’s just too harsh. Our country is going down the tubes, and he’s worried about a woman who is too strong while Trump and Republicans are trashing our Constitutional laws. Other people barely even know that an election is coming. I’ve heard people say that they just can’t be bothered to keep up with politics, as if their little worlds will never change no matter who is in office. We have a crisis of ignorance about the consequences of turning this country into an undemocratic, theocratic oligarchy. I don’t know how we overcome that ignorance, especially with media skipping over consequences. I know their job is just to report the news, but they could do better at also giving some context.

ask him to name the last woman he voted for. You know and I know he is a misogynist and will always have an excuse to not vote for a woman, no matter how qualified.

Re: current state of politics. This too shall pass. Turnout in 2018 was high and millions of yong people have been registered and they are very concerned on the big issues.

As to growing it in others, it is for us to impart a sense of common decency to our families and friends through the power of example. That is where the Christians tend to get it wrong - they think success is measured by number of converts, when the truth is that success is measured by the extent to which they instill that essential moral and ethical behavior in those around them by virtue of their own example, and the extent to which they work actively to build better, more tolerant, more cohesive and resilient communities, and by the extent to which they are conscious of our collective stewardship over the earth and all life it contains.

How many of us, I wonder, know influential people in their local area? How many of us keep abreast of local issues and regularly contact our mayor, councilperson or county commissioner about these issues? How many of us keep track of what our state legislature is doing and contact our legislators regularly? Our governor? And how many of us regularly contact our US Senators and Representative by telephone, letter or email? This is how to walk the walk.

It is more than just politics, because it is possible to take a conservative position on an issue and still be a decent human being, just as it is possible to take a liberal position likewise. The problem is that we have to keep our eye on the prize, and the prize is NOT amassing wealth or power. The prize is instead the power of community, cooperation and the drive to ensure everyone has enough.

At least that is how I believe. As to whether we will actually mature enough as a species to avoid going extinct through war or degradation of the environment, your guess is as good as mine. But we as individuals are not now, not ever excused from fighting the good fight.

Every day.

Everything PatrickforO just outlined - Indivisible is actually doing.

Reaching out to your leaders at the state and federal level. Writing, calling, rallying, getting active. NOT just sitting and bemoaning how rotten things are. DOING something about it. BEING the pushback. Indivisible connects activists, helps us organize and focus. There’s always something that can be done, AND partners to do it with. And you learn so much! About the issues. About strategy. About making some noise and making a difference.

I’m serious. It’ll help buoy you up and keep you from getting discouraged. Because we CANNOT afford to get discouraged.

My original question to PatrickO was how to get Moscow Mitch to agree to remove DT - because that's the only way that it will happen, and PatrickO states that it must happen.

PatrickO answered that we have to "grow the political will" and "walk the walk."

I asked what that meant specifically.

You answered "join your local Indivisible group."

I don't see those activities having any effect on Mitch McConnell, or the 80% of the GOP base that supports DT.

So, we're back to square one.

I'm curious what specific ideas that PatrickO has for "walking the walk."

The GOP needs to go away.
Yes, we need a contrary party to keep us balanced, but a party that is this corrupt cannot be a normal part of society.
