(153,169 posts)Comic Sans is appropriate only on a lemonade stand; drives me NUTS when I see it in the corporate world

(17,340 posts)I hate the way it looks.
Deleted it from my font library.
And I have a documentary on Helvetica.

(153,169 posts)I use them in documentation....they just look clean
I swear I feel a sense of rage when I see Comic Sans in a document

(4,723 posts)I do a lot of genealogy (hence my handle), and people use it to type out obituaries or the contents of a will. But, it particularly makes me cringe when a supervisor distributes an unpalatable new policy in Comic Sans, as if typing it out in a font that looks like a kid made it up is going to soften the blow.

(153,169 posts)that is SOOOOO cringe-worthy

(4,787 posts)I think that may be why he simply doesn't use teleprompters for speeches, and wants briefing handouts with minimal written content, among other things.
There are fonts designed to make text more legible for people with dyslexia, such as OpenDyslexic (see below) but they're noticeably different than regular fonts. You wouldn't likely use them unless you were writing a letter to someone with dyslexia. And someone seeing a memo written to Trump in such fonts would probably know that something was up. I can't imagine someone like Trump wanting everyone to know that he had a learning disability.
Enter comic sans, which ships on every machine using a Windows OS. It happens to be a font that people with dyslexia find easier to read than most other standard fonts. That may be why some of his attorneys are using it.

(16,864 posts)I can attest to that font being easier to read, although I don't particularly find "Comic sans" to have a professional appearance in any way.

I do understand that for someone with dyslexia it may be easier, but it's not easy on the eyes.

(3,428 posts)it reminds me of that font. I still like Comic sans even though the despicable deplorable-in-chiefs lawyers use it
