I have no doubt our soldiers developed a strong bound and friendship with many of the Kurds. They now have to sit back and watch their friends die because of what their commander in chief did. The moral level must be at zero.
If I was serving there I would have a hard time dealing with it.

I'm glad I'm not on active duty anymore. I know I could bite my lips for only so long before I wound up at minimum in the unfavorable information file cabinet.

(16,254 posts)There had to have been strong bonds and friendship among us and all the allies and Kurds. I haven't heard if the other allies were also pulled or if they are still fighting with the Kurds.
Those of us who have never physically been to war have no idea what it would be like to be bombed and/or go through street to street fighting. All I can do is imagine the fear and desperation of those in danger's path.
When the truth comes out, I would guess this horrible decision was truly a gift to Putin and once the majority has been destroyed, Russia will step in and take the rest.
Thank you for your service and compassion.

(3,557 posts)It reminds me of my time in Iraq and working with the locals. The handful of translators that I used were all from local communities. They put their lives on the live working with us and they all had hoped of eventually immigrating to the US. I doubt any of them made it here.
They were great people, just like us with the same hopes and dreams. Im sure the same goes for the Kurds that we betrayed.

I can't imagine the horrific reality the Kurds are now facing and how these service members must feel watching it unfold and being able to do nothing.
