MSNBC should hire Shep Smith.

It didn't go well with the last FOX hire but Shep comes from the news side of FOX, not the entertainment side. I've marveled for a few years that he could survive in that environment without the simpering Trump support FOX seems to demand but then I guess he didn't in the end.

Give him a weekend show, there's room there without changing the daily prime time lineup.

I think he'd make a good addition.

Guess she's at home counting her money. Wonder if she's under a non-compete agreement? Although I don't know if one of the major networks would want her after the NBC debacle.

Maybe FOX will want her back.

hard to defend in court. Kinda like Trump's NDs. It's hard for a court to deprive a person of the means to make a living.

Such agreements also won't survive a wrongful termination claim or a hostile workplace claim. It shouldn't be hard to prove the hostile workplace under the circumstances.

Besides, he's going from an entertainment network to a NEWS network so it's not really a direct competition.

If it says he can't work for another network for ten years it wouldn't be enforceable, but two or three probably would be.

Non-compete clauses are usually 1 to 2 years. I have no doubt he will get a new job somewhere. Probably not for the $15,000,000 a year he was making at FOX.

he can. He has to have some good stories. I bet he was way out of the loop on a lot of stuff, but he maybe had spies telling him what was up.

... and will get paid, too. After his contract runs out, he will go to the highest bidder. Shep's handlers/agency will get a good deal. I think both MSNBC and CNN will offer around $50 mil per year. He may even get prime slot with the regular networks, if something opens up... He's worth it, too... unlike other FOX strays, he has some real objective longevity.

During the period he's not allowed to work elsewhere.

Generally a minimum of one year, but not uncommon to see two.

(HR exec. I do something similar with very senior level people, VPs and above.)

He survived being in close proximity to FOX's bloviating punditry camp with his news chops and integrity intact (Tucker Carlson recently took shots at him for not toeing the company line).

I don't know how he stuck it out so long but I wish him well.
