Who believes that impeachment will hurt the Democrats in the next election?

That the Republicans will acquit and Trump will use that to club the Democrats over the head?

Will the Democrats argument for impeachment be that easy to dismiss?

Or will it make no difference at all? Each tribe is in their corner and they are not going to change their opinions? Nobody is going to be more or less likely to vote because of an impeachment vote?

Unless he is convicted, it will all hinge on the election of 2020?

there won't be trial as McConnel can not risk it at all. Either way, this will spur democratic vote beachbumbob Oct 2019 #1

But during the Nixon process, as people turned against Nixon, the GOP was compelled to demand that he resign.

And Carter won in 1976.

At this point (even at this point!) there are plenty of people still in the dark. And the media is complicit, no doubt. As this continues, though, there will be no way for supporters to stick their heads in the sand any longer.

Far too many voters will freely admit that they rarely pay attention to politics.

And the US corporate controlled media generally confines their reporting to superficialities such as "horse races' and personality driven "analysis".

Demonstrating a lack of courage will not only hurt the Democratic party, it will harm our country in any number of ways. Our international standing has been seriously damaged by the lack of foreign policy and the constant scandals cause by a corrupt brute as the figurehead. We have no choice about attempting to begin to correct course and clean up the mess he's caused.

Our backs against a wall right now.

will support Trump anyway. All I know it has to be done I think it will energise the Democratic vote it they don't get bogged down for months. Was talking to a couple Trump supporters they think Democrats are just picking on the poor SOB. They don't see where he has done anything wrong. I asked where they get their news Fox and the internet of course.
