Deleting FB account

It takes quite a bit of time to make fb delete your account. I did it two years ago...took about 2 hours to finally get to where you are asked to download your stuff and then they make you wait another two weeks before they finally delete. Worth every minute I spent.😤.

Everyone knows who I am and what I do. I'm FB friends with elected officials and candidates. No way would I say the stuff over there that I say on here.

But I pretty much do say the same things there that I do here, and the conversations are a lot more respectful and multi-faceted.

If I have any candidates or elected officials as friends it is because we are friends in some other capacity. But I have friends, relatives, co-workers, former students, people from three medical support groups - in short a cross section of the world. I have a few relatives and people from the medical support groups who are very conservatve, and a couple of far left folks I can only take in small doses. But when I have the energy, we actually have good, rich, multi-faceted conversations. Occasionally I make inroads with some of the conservative relatives.

I'm presently using Facebook to manage a neighborhood page, a couple of ex-pat/immigrant group pages, and get information on living in France.

So, as the expression goes, YMMV.

Just as much junk going on there. Then there is Amazon and Bezos. I don't think you can ever get away from this type of stuff. I have said this before here, Twitter is a sewer.

Zuckerberg is anti-freedom. I deleted my Facebook during the 2012 elections. By that point, all the backwards people had found FB and were spouting their nonsense. My wife asked me not to respond to her brother's wife, who is a new Christian and dumb as they come. I agreed to keep the family peace but also decided I didn't want to be on Facebook. So I deleted my account and haven't missed it once.

I use it to stay in touch with many, many friends of all stripes.

Political friends

Neighbors

Poetry friends

Photography friends

Family, of course.

I've been on Facebook for over ten years, and I enjoy it.

I've never seen any pro-trump posts because I have never friended anyone that would post those.

I only have about 100 'friends' on facebook, and they're all actual friends or family. I would invite any of them into my home without hesitation.
