but it damn should. It is both horrifying and sickening. Voters who don't care are shameful.

The situation is chaotic there now. Nero is Commander in Chief and may have tossed a match in gasoline, it seems.
That's all we need is a critical, military emergency while his Bloat is in office. However, he might want that in order to gain more control.

(16,616 posts)There are real possibilities for this situation spilling well out of control. Turkey has proxy militias doing a lot of the dirty work and it's unclear if they fully know what they are doing. This situation is horrible, but it could get much worse and could still be going on a year from now. The consequences of that phone call are hard to predict.

(43,049 posts)Ottoman Empire, it attempted to kill off the Armenians, and branched off into Greeks and Assyrians. The Ottomans were allied with the Quadruple Alliance in WWI, around the time of the massacres.
So, Turks allied with Germans and practicing genocide... Not too many dots to connect there.
It is notable that while Germany has done much to repent over the Jewish Holocaust, the Turks refuse to even admit what it did to the Armenians was such a bad thing.
The Ottoman Empire is dead and buried, and Ataturk did what he could to bring Turkey kicking and screaming into the 20th Century, but old habits die hard.
