You need some spices, right?

I needed some spices and, because Penzeys has been running impeachment ads, decided to go to their Web site. I was greeted by a pop up that said that 100% of the money from new customer online sales this week will go to impeachment ads. I suddenly need even more spices.

that they eventually moved downtown a few years ago so they could operate out of a larger space and at a location with HUGE foot traffic (the Independence Hall area, not far from where I worked before retiring)... But when I could go to it, I loved just walking around in there and seeing all the variety of spices!!!!! I always walked out with a bag full of something (they used little paper shopping bags with handles for purchases).

But their website is very well done.

Easy to navigate attractive photos and a smooth checkout.

I highly recommend thir cinnamon vanilla savory leaves and extra hot red pepper flake.

I've never had a bad product from them but those 4 items are exceptionally delicious.

And the savory leaves especially. They are head and shoulders above powdered savory for chicken soups and turkey gravy.

(including the savory)

In fact, some things like their ground cumin, smoked paprika, sesame seeds, ground turmeric, and ground ancho chili pepper, I have bought the bag sizes of. And they always would throw in samplers (including 1/4 cup jars) with purchases and frequently offered free jars of spices being featured if you reached a certain total purchase amount, so I literally have rows of jars on top of jars and bags in little bins in the cabinet on every shelf. They also have some good soup/broth/gravy bases too. I usually get "better than bouillon" ones but they didn't have a pork base and Penzey's did.

Their website organization is great (including the alphabetical listing and how they group spices for type of cooking as an alternative to search).

I know there has been a debate on DU regarding the use of a comma before an "and" at the end of a list. I was taught to include one there too but apparently some were not and it's considered blasphemy if one is there.

Is all that money spent on advertising wasted?

In the instant case, ads about impeachment get people to think about it when they otherwise might not have. Impeachment and removal from office requires public (voter) support. If the public is not informed, Representatives and Senators have only their consciences to guide them. Informing the public is a way to cause voters to express their opinions to their representatives in Congress.

Advertising is effective in boosting sales, else it would not be a multi-billion dollar a year business.

If you make home baked goods - once you try their Mexican vanilla you will never go back to regular ol vanilla. Great in coffee too.

I relocated from GA to FL. I miss not having a Penzey's locally. There's a store in ATL. I was planning to go there when I visit my parents for Thanksgiving. Given what they are doing, I will make my order online to support them.
