CONVOY ATTACK Turkey ‘bombs convoy of foreign journalists and aid workers killing 14’ in Syria border town

AT LEAST 14 people have been killed - including five civilians and a journalist - in a Turkish air raid on a convoy of civilians in Syria today, according to reports.

The guarded convoy was hit when it arrived at the Syrian border town of Ras al-Ain, that Turkish-allied forces have seized.
The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (Sohr) said the death toll for the strike was 14.

Several foreign journalists were with the convoy when it was struck, according to France 2 television journalist Stéphanie Perez.

She tweeted: "We were in the convoy of Kurdish civilians targeted by Turkish forces and their allies at Ras al Ain. Our team is fine, but some colleagues are dead."

A Kurdish news agency Hawar said one of its reporters was killed.

Images purporting to show the attack show a blast shatter an otherwise quiet street.

Bodies are seen strewn across the road in disturbing unverified footage too gruesome to show.

The Turkish attack began when US forces backing the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) withdrew from part of the Syrian-Turkish border last week.

The SDF, a major ally of the US against ISIS, called it a "stab in the back".

Fourteen killed after Turkish strike in Ras al Ain

BEIRUT/PARIS (Reuters) - The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said a Turkish air strike on a convoy in the Syrian town of Ras al Ain killed 14 people including five civilians and wounded 10 on Sunday.

Observatory Director Rami Abdulrahman said the strike had hit a gathering of civilians who had come to Ras al Ain from the city of Qamishli to show support as the town is targeted by Turkish forces attacking Kurdish-led forces in northern Syria.

Several foreign journalists were with the convoy when it was struck, according to a reporter from French broadcaster France 2.

“Syria. We were in the convoy of Kurdish civilians targeted by Turkish forces and their allies at Ras al Ain,” Stephanie Perez wrote on Twitter. “Our team is fine, but some colleagues are dead.”

There were no details available of who the colleagues were.

France 2 aired footage of the incident showing images of civilians mixed in with Kurdish-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) who were heading toward Ras al Ain.

The images, taken from about 10 km (six miles) from the town, showed bodies on the ground, burned out armored vehicles and other destroyed trucks and buildings.

It then showed images of people panicking with bloodied faces and trucks burning after the convoy was hit.

We joined a mixed military/civilian convoy heading towards Ras al Ayn. We did not go all the way. As they entered the front line town a Turkish airstrike hit. I don’t know how many of these people survived.

the woman who was raped and stoned to death. That blood is on his hands...he doesn't know what the end results of war are.

His only "war" was played out on his carpet or bedspread as a young boy. Plastic soldiers don't bleed or scream in pain.

I can't express how angry I am at his stupid decisions that affect so many people...people he's never seen.

He bragged about capturing/killing/stopping ISIS. Now that so many have escaped, along with their families, they will be a thousand times worse than before. They will regroup and be financed grandly.
