(421 posts)would be helping his co-conspirator Eric Prince (Betsy "Cruella" DeVos' brother) get rich.
Imagine being the family of US service members and hearing the Commander-in-Chief basically describe the American military as a mercenary army hired by countries like Saudi Arabia who are paying us to go protect them
Link to tweet
Erik Prince is on Fox, explaining that the best solution for Syria is for the U.S. to pull out all its troops, and then for the Kurds to hire private security contractors to come in and protect them.
Link to tweet
Under Trump, and the guidance of his associate Erik Prince, our military is turning into a Pay-for-Rent Mercenaries group. And hes profiting from it! This alone, is the most unconstitutional and traitorous thing a living American President has even done!
This was the plan all along. The grift is astounding.

(7,432 posts)Likely, Erdogan told him that his properties could suffer from terrorist attacks if Erdogan doesn't make sure that they are well protected. Get it? The last thing Trumpy wants is getting his properties bombed or attacked by terrorists. I'm surprised that, by now, every Trumpy property abroad hasn't been the target of terrorist attacks. Trumpy must be paying a lot of money for protection. OR... have you noticed that Russia has never gotten attacked by al-Qaeda, ISIS, or any other terrorist organization? Should we begin to suspect that Putin is funding them? THAT would be the disclosure of the decade, but the journalists who COULD expose that small notation in any possible news cycle would be on more than one tyrant's hit list.

(15,124 posts)This just gave me an interesting thought. I believe it would be appropriate but dangerous for the Democrats to pursue The Orange One for his crimes after he is tossed out of OUR White House. Future Republican administrations (because, sadly, there will be some) will make an effort to do the same to any Democrats.
What if we let the world court decide his crimes. Send him to The Hague and hold him accountable for the atrocities happening in Syria. Let him face his failures on the world stage.

(15,124 posts)Or "next time" it will be someone much smarter who will actually succeed at becoming Emperor. And we need to codify so many of the norms that The Orange One has blown through. Once we are past this (tomorrow would be nice), we need to ensure that this never happens again.

(19,459 posts)Back in the day before the regiment combined its artillery support into a separate Fires squadron each squadron had its own 155mm battery for support (M109A1s).
But its been 44 years since I ETSd, and my weapons identification is a bit rusty...
Thanks for responding.
Edit: thanks also for the photos. It looks too big to be a .50 cal., or the equivalent DSHK. Ill guess somewhere in the 20mm range, perhaps a Soviet design.

Should be a mass Exodus.
The "mass Exodus" is what he wants.
The same thing is happening with Repugs in congress who can't stomach him anymore.
It has also happened in the State Department, where great members with years of non-political, dedicated service to the United States have been pushed out so as to strengthen IQ45's hold on the department.

(5,810 posts)And we see where that got him. His erratic, off balance way of directing things nearly always turns out terrible for himself and anyone else unfortunate enough to be in his path. Now we have the added problem of him being influenced by terrible people who have their own selfish motives for the things they want done, no matter who gets hurt. tRump has managed to get himself entangled with so many bad guys and there is no easy way out for him. He must try to serve his masters which to an old narcissist like him must truly be hell. It will get a lot worse for him before all this ends. And the whole world gets to see his epic destruction. What a time to be alive. We just thought Watergate would be the biggest historical political thing we witnessed.

(11,316 posts)Glad you used the term "erratic". That's the thing -- Trump doesn't DO plans or planning. He just goes out and does sh*t. And then has other people come along behind him to sweep up the mess -- and try to spin how this is part of some plan or agenda. There IS NO F*CKING PLAN.
(Look -- he can't even sell this sh*t to his own toadies. Nobody knows what he's doing. Including Trump.)

(29,067 posts)for the Kurd betrayl are Trump and those who enabled it.
The soldiers and farmers didn't see this coming any more than the rest of us.
LisaM
(27,813 posts)Story after story about his chaotic business practices, his cruelty to subordinates, the way he treated his ex-wives, his bankruptcies, his ties to mobsters, his lies about events like 9-11, his collusion with the Russians, his misogyny, and his glaring lack of knowledge about foreign affairs was all there in plain sight.
I do feel sorry for farmers who are suffering, and for military members who find themselves in these untenable situations, but many of us did see this coming - including Hillary Clinton, who's beginning to sound like Nostradamus - and no one would listen, and the media buried it. But as voting groups, the military and farmers helped put him into office and all this was hugely predictable. Nobody but Trump, his cronies, and his family have ever benefited from one thing he's done. And sometimes his cronies and his family don't either.
whathehell
(29,067 posts)The characteristics you've listed, negative as they are, are not automatically predictive of war crimes.

(1,568 posts)that will come back as a larger issue in the future. Whatever it may be, but the added instability in the region that this caused ensures US troops will be back there fighting the same battles that were already won. While Trump and his admin is to blame for this specific situation, this ridiculous and near-sighted approach to handling anything like this is kind of how the US rolls. Even before ISIS started getting beat back, everyone knew that once they were gone this was going to be the situation. The Trump administration had well over a year to take steps to ensure continued stability in the region even if/when we pulled out. Considering he keeps saying he ran on the promise of pulling out of places like Syria, then this should have been a huge priority. Whatever the actual solution may have been. Working to establish and official Kurdish state or working to get Syria and Kurds to integrate themselves or whatever. I don't think I heard of any efforts on their part to come up with any solution to ensure the stability of the region.
Now we have another cluster fuck in which innocent people are being slaughtered. We look assholes (again) after abandoning people who were our allies.

(6,699 posts)Granted, "most of the nation" voted against the fucking idiot. And how many voted FOR the fucking idiot! Shall we pretend we are not a nation of morons. When NEARLY HALF the fucking country votes for this piece of shit, 40% of the voting adults SUPPORT this piece of shit....that pretty much says it all.
I ONLY speak for myself. I've watched this nation on the international stage since I was 18 years old and traveled outside the country for the first time. I knew we had backward, simple minded morons in the rural hills of the reddest of red states. I just had no idea there were so many.
