About Trump's failing Doral Resort (the bedbug capital of the world):

Jonathan O'Connell ✔ @OConnellPostbiz (Washington Post) 12:46 PM - Oct 17, 2019

A few things to remember about Doral: this is not like a lot of Trump properties, where he is just the manager or the brand. He owns Doral and he borrowed heavily to acquire it.

A number of other banks wouldn't issue that loan but, as @davidenrich has reported, Deutsche Bank took a circuitous route to approving $125 million toward it. Trump still carries that loan.

Since Trump became president, Doral has been sliding financially, as @Fahrenthold and I have reported. Revenue and profits are down in nearly every category.

What remains unknown is how much further the business at Doral can fall before it affects Trump's ability to pay back Deutsche Bank.

Hosting the G7, even if it's only at cost, will showcase the property to television viewers literally around the world as a place where the most powerful men and women in the world come to congregate. You cannot buy press like that.

In the meantime, will anyone who hasn't already opposed Trump's business dealings while in office stand up and say something? Will any Rs join the emoluments lawsuits? Will any of the attorneys Trump Org hired to approve it conduct say anything?

. . .upon the release of his book Commander-in-Cheat: How Golf Explains Trump

How has the presidency affected how well his courses are doing financially?

I think the presidency has really hurt his golf business. Doral, I went there and it was so empty you could shoot a machine gun. In fact, the day I left someone did come in and sprayed the place with a machine gun and no one got hurt, because no one was there. I walked all over, and I saw one group. I walked every hole at Aberdeen and saw one group. Eric Trump lied at an opening and said, “Oh, we’re so busy here at Trump Ferry Point.” And I said, “Oh really?” So I went online Saturday night to get a Sunday tee time. I had my choice of the whole day. You know, $180 to play golf in the Bronx is not a big seller. His business is down, down, down.
