The Devoted Friend by Oscar Wilde (1888)

October 16 was the birthday of celebrated playwright and poet Oscar Wilde (1854-1900).

My favorite story of his, a children's fable actually, pretty much sums up the relationship between Republican elites and their rank-and-file (especially working class) supporters. At least as far as I can see.
