The quicker Moscow Mitch can bury it and brag that Traitor Trump was found innocent.

I don;t expect any articles of impeachment passed to the Senate until after Jan 1. McConnel will take a vote that needs a 51% threshold to "delay" the trial and use the Merrick Garland defense. Let the american people decide Nov 2020. THIS IS THE ONLY WAY the GOP can hold their base together.

On the otherhand nothing will spur a huge voter turnout of democratic voters that can easily lead to even larger blue tidal wave than 2018 was. The GOP can not expand their base up at all. Trump and GOP will then very trick in the book in the run up to Nov 2020, and I expect the following:

- "new tax breaks" for middleclass
- "huge" infrastructiure plan

with the expectations the democrats will oppose in the Senate and the Hous from a deficit/debt point of view. Me, I would go along and ADD even more to it so the GOP ends up killing their own bill OR trump VETOs the bills.

"Get it over with quick," was his statement, although what Mr McConnell says and what he does rarely align.

It suggests to me that he is going to try to spin it as some kind of kabuki theatre, and reduce it to a political game of us and them. Which would play well among his dwindling base. On some level, he might even believe this to be the case: it may be he has no conception of patriotism or loyalty to the Constitution, and sees everything as a question of winning and losing.
