How soon is he removed from office? Is it immediate? Is he and his family escorted out of the White House? What about his staff? Do they go too? How will that play out?

(15,240 posts)Trump will be the fall for filthy Republicans. It couldnt happen to a more deserving POS and his partners in crime will walk and replace him. I expect him to ignore outcomes of an impeachment as he may try to ignore an election, calling it a coup.

(43,409 posts)If he is convicted, he is immediately removed from office, the VP is sworn in, and Rump would have to vacate the White House immediately. If he refuses, he will be removed under the threat of force. I assume he would get a few days to have his personal shit packed up, of that I am not sure of the exact process. He would be a private citizen the instant the conviction is finalised and officially entered into the record.

(10,252 posts)A Fed judge is found, probably Roberts because he's already in the bldg hearing the vote, and Pence is sworn in right away. Unless Pence is also impeached and removed. The WH staff, the cooks, maids, butlers, footmen, gardeners, security, etc. don't work for Trump. They work for the WH. But Trump's political staff will either resign, or be shown to the exit, unless the next POTUS asks some of them to remain. I imagine that a lot of cabinet members will also leave, because they'll be busy with their lawyers, trying to stay out of jail. And each and everyone of us will breathe a big sigh of relief that the tedium of Trump fatigue is being lifted.

From Article I, Section 3:
The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments. When sitting for that Purpose, they shall be on Oath or Affirmation. When the President of the United States is tried the Chief Justice shall preside: And no Person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of two thirds of the Members present.
Judgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States: but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law.
Beyond that, it's up to the Senate to set their rules for the trial.
