‘You totally said that’: Mulvaney melts down as Chris Wallace plays tape of quid pro quo admission

https://www.rawstory.com/2019/10/you-totally-said-that-mulvaney-melts-down-as-chris-wallace-plays-tape-of-quid-pro-quo-admission/

“That’s not what I said, that’s what people said I said,” Mulvaney pleaded. “Here’s what I said… there were two reasons that we held up the aid.”

“I believe that anyone listening to what you said in that briefing room can come to one conclusion,” Wallace explained before replaying the tape of Mulvaney.

“Go back and watch what I said before that,” Mulvaney begged.

“You totally said that,” Wallace quipped. “You said what you said, and the fact is, after you had that exchange with [ABC’s] Jonathan Karl… you didn’t mention two conditions, you mentioned three conditions.”

At that point, Wallace forced Mulvaney to watch tape of himsel

Mulvaney wasn't bugged or coerced or manipulated...he simply came out at the press conference swingin' Little Mick, and then trampled all over him. And, for emphasis (and $$$) the Trump campaign immediately sold "Get Over It" t-shirts.

EVERYBODY WINS! Trump makes some cash, and the House has significantly more ammo in its impeachment inquiry.

Russel: So what you said last week about no story, you’re a little flexible on that now.
George: Is-is that what I said ‘no story’? Because Jerry had to tell me later.
Jerry: He couldn’t believe it.
George: I said, I said: ‘Get outta here! No story? Is that what I said?’

Leave it to George to put things in perspective!

Mulvaney might also add another classic George line, with a twist...."Was that wrong? Should I not have said that? Because if I had any idea that kind of thing was frowned upon..." etc. etc.

This low-down, dirty skunk is STILL saying that he didn't say what he said on the tape

It's laughable, but extremely frightening in this way: It took most in the news media almost 3 years to catch up to the out and out LIES this administration told and continues to tell, yet I will BET a dollar to a dozen of doughnuts that if/when a Dem administration takes the reigns of power again, it'll be grilled incessantly even for the most minor of mistakes. THEIR feet held to the fires of HELL. Not that an administration shouldn't be above board, fourth-right and honest with the American people, but I think that this corporate media will over-correct in a big way on the backs of a Dem administration, and on the Backs of a Dem POTUS

Normally their little cloud is kept afloat by the twisted logic that they are fed on a daily basis.
A republican coworker of mine was caught stealing on video. Even as they were showing him the tape he denied it. He returned to work the next day and found all of his personal belongings in a box by the door. He acted as if everything that he had been caught doing was some kind of imaginary deception that we had cooked up to harass him. He of course sued the company but could not find an attorney to represent him. The judge laughed at him when all of the evidence was presented, but he still refused to believe that he had been caught red handed.
The company was just happy to be rid of him so they did not charge him with the theft. Petty thievery decreased to zero the day he left.

I had the misfortune of working with some over the years who didn’t have the good sense to check their politics at the lobby entrance.

One place I worked at there were two of these guys. They both eventually left and things became a lot better after they were gone.

You’re fucking DONE, Mulvaney.

You’re done. Finished. You climbed all the way into the White House and that’s gonna be as far as you get. You’re such damaged goods after this video confessional that you better plan to retire to some secluded location, write a book or something, and not try to go high-profile ever again. You need to slink away into the shadows and stay there, and hope to God the law (or karma) doesn’t come after you, too.

Buttttt...

OTOH: I do have questions about Mulvaney's "they do it all the time." Who they? How does this bipartisan letter not rise to quid pro quo pressure that apparently did get sort of a positive response. Note date and signers...That guy's now serving a 50-week sentence, that will end there or about 6 months before our General Election...Is there a political advantage here in such timing; I'm assuming release would be followed by time required to obtain US extradition???

Tim Russert. He was sooo good at what Wallace just did to Mulvaney. Russert called people on things they said or did and then had the tapes as back up when they tried to deny or fudge the facts. We desperately need more media people today like Russert.
